Chadwick and Blatz Published in New Book

Dr. Kristine Chadwick, Executive Director of Edvantia’s Center for Research and Evaluation Services (CRES) & Jennifer Conner Blatz, Senior Program Officer at the KnowledgeWorks Foundation (KWF), have their case study – “Keep Up with the Program!: Adapting the Evaluation Focus to Align with a College Access Program’s Changing Goals” – published in Jonathan A. Morell’s new book, “Evaluation in the Face of Uncertainty: Anticipating Surprise and Responding to the Inevitable.”

Edvantia to be Evaluator on i3 Grant

Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPSS) in Kentucky was recently selected as one of the 2010 Investing in Innovation and Improvement (i3) Highest-Rated Applications by the U.S. Department of Education. JCPS was one of only 49 winners out of nearly 1700 applications. The Innovation and Improvement (i3) competitive grants support innovative practices that improve student achievement.

Once JCPS certifies a 20 percent match of private funding, they will receive $5 million that will then go to support targeted reform efforts in six persistently low-performing high schools. There are four main objectives of their efforts: improve achievement and close achievement gaps; decrease dropout rates and increase high school graduation rates; increase college readiness and access; and improve teacher and school leader effectiveness.

As part of its competitive i3 application, JCPS named Edvantia, Inc. as the project’s third-party, independent evaluator. The evaluation is designed to identify the aspects of the project that contribute to student achievement. It will also provide project staff with data to inform program improvements, as needed.

Edvantia’s Center for Research and Evaluation Services provides specialists who are able to design and execute evaluation plans to meet a variety of needs for schools, school districts, and state departments of education.
